Join a Worldview Workshop
- Transforming the Worldview
In this workshop, we examine the dominant worldview that currently shapes most people’s understanding of events. Then we explore the transformational ideas rooted in progressive values that we want to replace that dominant worldview with. And finally, we look at the power and importance of the language we use to reinforce our transformational worldview.
- Reversing Runaway Inequality
In this workshop, we examine the massive level of economic inequality we bear in America today. We will discuss what the current inequality looks like and how it came to be. Our economic system was built on exploitation of Black and brown people and, in order to achieve economic justice, we must understand and dismantle the racism inherent in the system.
- Breaking the Cycle
In this workshop, we explore the motivations and drivers of the criminal legal system, including policing and mass incarceration. We pay special attention to the institutional racism at the heart of the system that has been oppressing Black and brown people for centuries. With that understanding, we can begin to redefine safety in our lives and communities.
Help us create change
Do you want universal healthcare? Do you want clean air, water, and food? A fair economy full of great jobs with living wages for everyone? Excellent schools for all of our kids? Neighborhoods that are safe for everyone? Communities free from injustice, oppression, and discrimination where every single person has dignity and access?
The majority of New Yorkers want these things too.
To make the goals we support – like universal healthcare, racial justice, and a worker-focused economy – make sense to the public, we have to replace that conservative worldview with a progressive one. Our progressive worldview says that:
- we are interdependent and interconnected;
- government is an instrument of good;
- everyone should have opportunity and access; and
- our economy should promote the common good.
And we invite you to join the effort.
There are three ways you can get involved:
- Sign up for our core workshops to learn more.
- Help broaden our reach by arranging for us to bring our workshops to your workplace or community organization.
- Join our Political Education Committee to help us do the work of making the progressive worldview the dominant worldview.
