Health Advocate Positions Available for the Public Policy and Education Fund

(Ulster County, Dutchess County, Orange County, Sullivan County)

General Description: The Public Policy and Education Fund of NY (PPEF), a non-profit organization with offices throughout New York State, is hiring for multiple positions related to enrollment of uninsured New Yorkers in health insurance programs under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the landmark law passed by Congress in 2010. Under the ACA, individuals and small businesses are still able to enroll in health insurance coverage. The law funds “navigators” to recruit individuals or small businesses who may wish to enroll in health coverage, to advise them as to their coverage options, and to assist consumers to complete the enrollment forms. PPEF is hiring staff for its navigator program.

Available position:

  • Navigator (Positions available in Ulster County, Dutchess County, Orange County, Sullivan County): salary range: $28K -$32K/year.

Additional Information: PPEF is a statewide community based organization that advocates for social, racial, economic and environmental justice. All positions are full time with benefits (including health coverage). The positions require 40 hours/week, with significant nighttime and weekend hours. Applicants must own a reliable car. Fluency in Spanish is a big plus, particularly for the navigator positions.
