(Released June 1, 2006) The Institute for America’s Future (IAF) has issued a report on the amount that President Bush’s plan to privatize Social Security would cost a typical New York worker who retires in 2080, the planning horizon for Social Security. In this accompanying report, The Public Policy and Education Fund of New York (PPEF) calculates the amount that the Bush plan would cut Social Security for two typical Western New York residents: a 20-year old who is entering the workforce now and a Western New York resident who retires in 2080.
